Date Reviewed: 12-09-2025
Finding that perfect coffee spot while exploring a new city is one of life's simple pleasures. Whether you're seeking an expertly crafted espresso to kickstart your day, a cozy corner to relax in, or a quiet space to catch up on emails, Łódź has a wonderful and growing cafe scene.
This guide offers my personal recommendations based on what you might be looking for in a coffee break.
Our Favourite Łódź Cafes:
Great Coffee Shops Closest to the Apartment
When you need a great coffee close by, these are my convenient and reliable choices:
- Pan Tu Nie Stał Cafe
- Why I love it: I don't think it gets more "Made in Łódź" than this. An extension of the iconic local clothing brand, this cafe has a unique, Polish design-focused atmosphere. It’s located in the vibrant OFF Piotrkowska complex, so you get to experience that creative hub as well. For those not wanting caffeine, they also offer roasted grain coffee – a traditional, caffeine-free hot beverage that’s worth a try.

- Find them at OFF Piotrkowska: https://maps.app.goo.gl/LQSc299f8aPZjyg26
- Caffe Przy Ulicy
- Why I love it: Having already praised this spot in my breakfast guide, it absolutely earns a place here too. It's simply a fantastic all-rounder. Their coffee is consistently excellent (including decaf options!), and you can always pair it with one of their delicious cakes or pastries. It's a welcoming and reliable choice any time of day.
- Find them at Nawrot Street: https://maps.app.goo.gl/c7jNXEnfAnqo8a8i7
For the True Coffee Passionate
When only the best, most expertly prepared brew will do, this is the place:
- Owoce i Warzywa
- Why I love it: They take their coffee very seriously, offering a selection of high-quality, single-origin beans and various brewing methods, from a perfect espresso to nuanced pour-overs. The baristas are knowledgeable and passionate, making it a go-to for anyone who truly appreciates specialty coffee.
- Good to Know: They have a couple of locations, including one in the creative hub at Piotrkowska 217 (sometimes called the "new OFF Piotrkowska"), which is an interesting destination to explore in itself.
- Find them at Piotrkowska Street: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6PueCxu25YBxFgvP7
Cafes with a Unique Atmosphere
For a coffee break that feels like an experience in itself:
- Surindustrialle
- Why I love it: Located near Plac Wolności, this is a one-of-a-kind spot. It’s somewhat of an art gallery and cafe where you can enjoy excellent coffee while surrounded by inspiring design. This place is only for open-minded people who are looking for a unique, original experience, as this is not your everyday coffee shop.
- Good to Know: They are typically only open on weekends, so it's a special treat. Always check their social media for current hours before visiting.
- Find them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/surindustrialle

Best Spots for People-Watching
Sometimes the best companion to a coffee is the vibrant life of the city unfolding before you.
- Grand Cafè
- Why I love it: Choose this spot if you want to breathe in history. Part of the iconic Grand Hotel, this cafe has a timeless, pre-war elegance. While I'll admit the coffee experience itself is average, the location is absolutely spot-on. The large windows look directly onto Piotrkowska Street, and the unique table setup is perfectly designed for watching the world go by. It’s about the atmosphere and the view.
- Good to Know: In the summer, any cafe with an outdoor garden on Piotrkowska works for people-watching, but I choose this one for its history and classic charm.
- Find them on Piotrkowska St: https://maps.app.goo.gl/cD9fwXrUV8gEeFGh6
- Tubajka
- Why I love it: This is my top choice if you want to sit in a beautiful park and enjoy your coffee. Tubajka is a charming, family-friendly cafe located right in Park Źródliska. It has a wonderfully relaxed, slightly retro atmosphere. It’s the perfect escape from the city buzz without having to go far at all.
- Location: Park Źródliska I

For Working or a Quick Online Meeting
When you need a place to open your laptop and focus for a while:
- Etno Cafe
- Why it's a good choice: This cafe has a professional yet comfortable atmosphere. The internet is decent, and because it's often a spot for business meetings, there's a general understanding for people working on laptops. It's a great, reliable option conveniently close to the apartment.
- Good to Know: It's part of a well-regarded Polish chain of specialty coffee shops, so the coffee quality is also good.
- Location: ul. Piotrkowska 123 (near the "Stajnia Jednorożców" tram station)
- Find them: https://maps.app.goo.gl/M5mDLpZWxvKQFLmb9
- Obiecana Cafe
- Why it's a good choice: If you want to hide away in a corner and not be disturbed, this can be a great place. It is located in yet another of Łódź's revitalized industrial zones (Widzewska Manufaktura "WI-MA"), offering a unique post-industrial ambiance. They serve a decent selection of hot and cold beverages to keep you fueled.
- Good to Know: The location itself is an interesting piece of Łódź's history to experience.
- Location: Geyer Gardens

Pro Tips for Coffee Lovers in Łódź
- Alternative Milks: Most specialty and modern cafes in Łódź will offer plant-based milk alternatives like oat or soy.
- Opening Hours: Cafe hours can vary, with some opening early and others more towards mid-morning. It's always a good idea to check their current hours online before you go.
- The "Pour-over" (Drip): If you're a fan of filter coffee, look for "przelew" or "drip" on the menu at specialty coffee shops for a clean, nuanced cup.
I hope this personal guide helps you find your perfect coffee moment in Łódź. Enjoy!
