Where to Eat in Łódź? 7 Restaurants for Lunch and Dinner – Locals' Choice (2025)

Last Review Date: 09-01-2026

When choosing a restaurant in Łódź – whether for a special occasion or a quick weekday lunch – I follow a few iron rules. I look for high-quality food (ideally with a seasonal accent), creative meat-free options, and an atmosphere that turns a meal into an experience.

The list below contains my personal favorites. It is not a ranking from best to worst, but a guide to help you match the place to the occasion.

Quick Cheat Sheet: Which place for which occasion? (TL;DR)

Don't have time to read the whole thing? See where to go depending on what you are looking for:

  • Casual meetup with friends Komediowa or Aloha Poke (Piotrkowska St.)
  • Family dinner / Sunday classic Fatamorgana (Księży Młyn)
  • Romantic date / Dinner Wolność Neo Bistro (Plac Wolności)
  • Best Pizza / Comfort Food Ferment Pizza i Krany (Piotrkowska St.)
  • Unique Vibe / "Łódź Experience" Ukryte Rzeki (Geyer Gardens)
  • Business Lunch / Meeting Montag (Piotrkowska St.)

Important note: Although I personally avoid meat and fish, not all the listed restaurants are 100% vegetarian. I have chosen places that respect every guest and offer brilliant plant-based dishes, even if they have meat on the menu. These are safe choices for groups with mixed preferences!

Fatamorgana – A gem in Księży Młyn

Best for: A family dinner and feeling the spirit of old Łódź.

This restaurant is hidden in the heart of the historic Księży Młyn district. Fatamorgana delights with its coziness and seasonal approach to cuisine. The menu changes regularly, offering creative interpretations of Polish and European cuisine. It is a place where you can taste the quality of ingredients in every bite.

  • What to eat (Signature Dish): Always choose from the seasonal menu, but if you don't fall in love with any option there, I recommend the veggie burger in an amazing bun.
  • Good to know: In spring and summer, they have a beautiful garden. Eating lunch surrounded by historic factories is pure pleasure.
  • Pros and Cons:
  • ✅ Unique location (Księży Młyn)
  • ✅ Menu adapted to the seasons
  • ❌ Advance reservation required

Location: ul. Księży Młyn 11B (see map: https://g.co/kgs/xTvEhyP)

Komediowa – Humor and taste on Piotrkowska

Best for: A casual outing with a group of friends.

Located near Plac Wolności (Freedom Square), this venue is owned by a famous comedian. This spirit of fun is visible in the menu – the names of the dishes often bring a smile, but the flavors are very serious. It is fusion cuisine combining Polish traditions with international trends.

  • What to eat: If you are not from Łódź, try the Zalewajka (local soup), and to everyone else, I recommend the gnocchi and a dive into the seasonal menu.
  • Atmosphere: "Comedy club vibe" means it can be loud and cheerful here.
  • Pros and Cons:
  • ✅ Loose atmosphere, no pretension
  • ✅ Creative names and tasty food
  • ❌ Can be loud (not recommended for a quiet, intimate conversation)

Location: ul. Piotrkowska 12 (see map: https://g.co/kgs/KcUHc3u)

Aloha by Las Palmas – Hawaii in the center of Łódź

Best for: A quick, healthy lunch with friends and exotic flavors.

If you are in the mood for something lighter and more colorful, Aloha is a bullseye. It is a kingdom of Poke Bowls – bowls full of fresh vegetables, rice, and toppings (fish or vegan tofu).

  • What to eat: Oaku Poke with Tofu and 50/50 rice with salad.
  • Pros and Cons:
  • ✅ Very healthy and fresh food
  • ✅ Fast service
  • ✅ Great vegan options
  • ❌ A place to visit mostly in the summer

Location: ul. Franklina Delano Roosevelta 2/4 (see map: https://share.google/PD8rwkrrlkt6bcIby)

Ferment Pizza i Krany – Pizza unlike any other

Best for: Comfort food and an evening with craft beer.

For pizza lovers looking for something more than a classic Margherita. Ferment is famous for creative flavor combinations and great dough. "Krany" (Taps) in the name is not accidental – they have an excellent selection of craft beers that pair perfectly with the food.

  • What to eat: Their menu is seasonal, but any pizza with truffles is worth the sin.
  • Good to know: On weekends, the queue starts out on the street. It's worth coming during the week or arming yourself with patience.
  • Pros and Cons:
  • ✅ Genius dough and creative toppings
  • ✅ Fantastic service
  • ❌ No reservations and frequent queues

Location: ul. Piotrkowska 99 (see map: https://g.co/kgs/MCdCU6)

Ukryte Rzeki – Modernity in Geyer Gardens

Best for: Experiencing the unique vibe of Łódź ("Łódź Experience").

A restaurant located in the revitalized Geyer Gardens. This place combines history with modern design on the plate. The cuisine is creative fusion, and the dishes look like little works of art.

  • What to eat: Their dumplings (pierogi) with modern fillings are always worth trying.
  • Atmosphere: The staff creates a very warm, welcoming atmosphere here, which makes a great impression combined with the post-industrial surroundings.
  • Pros and Cons:
  • ✅ Beautiful plating (Instagram-friendly)
  • ✅ Surroundings of the historic Geyer Gardens
  • ❌ Reservation required

Location: Ogrody Geyera, ul. Piotrkowska 295A (see map: https://g.co/kgs/rznfrPz)

Wolność Neo Bistro – Dinner with a view

Best for: A romantic date or an elegant dinner.

Wolność Neo Bistro occupies a prestigious location on Plac Wolności but brings new energy to it. The "Neo Bistro" concept means it is elegant, but without the stiff pretension typical of fine dining. It is modern European cuisine that plays with form and flavor, basing much of its approach on a low-carb diet.

  • What to eat (Signature Dish): The menu changes seasonally, focusing on product quality. For a smaller hunger, you can order a few sides and share them – after all, "sharing is caring".
  • Good to know: The location right next to the renovated Freedom Square (Plac Wolności) and the "Dętka" Canal Museum makes it the perfect end point for a walk along Piotrkowska. The view from the windows (especially in the evening) is impressive.
  • Pros and Cons:
  • ✅ Elegant decor and professional service
  • ✅ Great location (start/end of Piotrkowska)
  • ❌ Small selection of vegetarian main dishes (apart from sides)

Location: Plac Wolności 4 (see map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/FsrziaTyRdxUfg9Z7)

Montag – Not just breakfasts

Best for: A business lunch and an elegant meeting during the day.

Although Montag is mainly a breakfast spot for me (which I wrote about here), it is also an excellent place for a business lunch. It is elegant and bright, and the service is efficient, which is crucial for professional meetings.

  • What to eat (Signature Dish): Here, too, the card changes seasonally; fuczki (sauerkraut pancakes) in their version transform from simple pancakes into an exquisite dish decorated with flowers!
  • Why it's worth it: The lunch menu is short, specific, and always based on fresh products. There is no risk of a slip-up – quality is the priority here.

Location: ul. Piotrkowska 78 (see map: https://g.co/kgs/dckPpo5)

Practical tips for dining out in Łódź

  1. Reservations are essential: The dining culture in Łódź is booming. On Friday and Saturday evenings, walking in "off the street" to places like Fatamorgana or Ferment borders on a miracle. Call 1-2 days in advance.
  2. Tipping: The standard is 10-15% of the bill if you are satisfied with the service. For larger groups (over 6-8 people), service is often added automatically.
  3. Diet: Most of the listed places are very flexible. If you have allergies, inform the staff – the level of awareness among waiters in Łódź is really high.
